Space calendar 3/10/20017. Planet K33. Sunny
Dear John,
Seemed like my wish - tasting peculiar tangerine - would not be satisfied, as this place had been reconstructed from a tiny town market to a small-scale but well-established park.
As what you said, the technology of this planet was not advanced thus the facilities in the park was old-fashioned. However, due to this reason, the relationships between the staff and the visitors were closer, which lightened the spirit of the park and filled it with warmth.
I do as the Romans do - turned on the mimic system of my spacesuit and turn myself into a clown. I bought a handful of coins at the booth and enter the park.
In a corner of the park, I found a game I loved when I was small - Shooting Big Tooth. The rules were simple: use the gun provided to shoot down all the teeth on the targets.
The target in front looked like a big fat alien, the six bright teeth risen my impulse of shooting them down. I inserted the coins, and aimed at the teeth of the alien.
'POOM!'
'OUCH!'
'EH?!'
Startlingly, when the bullet hit the tooth, the target moved! It was a living alien! I was astonished.
Fortunately the alien didn't seemed to be hurt, instead he started to count down.
'5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Game Over!'
No different from a real game target, the tooth of the alien regrown after the count down.
'Big thank you from Big Tooth Harry. Do you wanna continue?' the alien did a provocational gesture that was not quite befitted with his tone.
A living target! How queer! I inserted the coins again and challenged myself to shoot Harry's second tooth in 5 seconds after shooting down the first one...
After several attempts, I won at last. At that time my cassette player backpack played a song - Que Sera Sera by Doris Day.
When I was bidding goodbye to Harry, he gave me a red clown nose accessory as a present of winning the game.
Farewell, Big Teeth Harry. Thank you for letting me to recollect my childhood memory.
The planet I arrived was not advanced in technology, yet it was energetic. People from different planets gathered in the street market to bartered goods with each other. I loved this place, so heart-warming.
Still, there were stalls that were less popular. In a hidden corner in the market, I saw a yellowish orange kappa selling something... tangerines, perhaps? The tangerines hadn’t gone bad yet they looked mutated. That's probably the reason that the shop was left out. The queerness of the tangerines impressed me, so I observed them.
Without warning, a huge tangerine stood up and startled me! I realized that was a fox in tangerine colour soon after. This prankish fox offered me a bone-shaped tangerine, seemed like it wanted me to have a bite.
Since the anti-poison alarm of my spacesuit stayed silent, I had a mouthful of tangerine.
Wow!! It’s heavenly good!
Contrasting to their odd appearances, these tangerines were filled with ripeness to the core - toothsome flesh collaborating with rich and thirst-quenching juice, furnished the lucky ones a delightful palate. It's such a pity that those who judge a book by its cover would never be able to be allured by the divine flavour!
I started the mimic system of the spacesuit, turned myself into to a sales, then picked up a box of tangerines and peddled with kappa and the fox.
As for salary, a few more tangerines would be fine.
Space is big, life is short.

It has been 20 years since your last visit, and now I was here, on this planet.
According to the space calendar, you had left this planet for 20 years only, yet due to the "gravitational time dilation", thousand years had passed on this planet. How fascinating!
After all these years, this planet, Planet A91, fell into an age of war - conflicts between countries never stopped. The people seemed to have lost their minds. This planet didn't left much time.
However, by the time I planned to leave this planet as nothing seemed experience-worthy, I saw "foxes". Their fur colours were not as same as what you mentioned, still I was sure they were the creatures you have seen.
"They" were a pair of sisters.
Thus, I decided to take them away from this planet, to Planet Z017 and look for their companions.
I had made a new friend today, though, seemingly, he didn't belong on this planet.
If a metaphor has to be made, it looked like a species on planet Z017 named "Fox". However it could stand with rear legs and float in air. Also he had no fixed colour on his body and his hair colour changed constantly, like the universe, which was obsessive. I gathered data of it with my spacesuit and changed my appearance into a creature looked almost as same as it.
It said it has no families nor friends, not even knowing its name and reason to be born. It has existed on this planet before it knew anything thus it wished to learn more about this world by travelling.
It seldom talked even when I was traveling with him. When I wanted to to take a rest he has vanished all in a sudden.
It was so confusing — had I known this friend or it was merely a fantasy.
Space is big, life is short.

Yesterday, I turned on the data gathering process of my spacesuit immediately when I landed on this planet.
This spacesuit could scan and collect the appearance data on particular creatures on the planets, allowing the users to mimic them. However, when the mimesis lasted too long, the spacesuit would not be able to return to it's original state. Further, a permanently memory lost would occur to the user.
Thence, I had designed an emergency mimesis deactivating device, which was a cassette player backpack.
Every time the song was played, the countdown started. By the end of the song, the mimesis feature of the spacesuit would be suspended. Thus I could restore my identity. Moreover, it also act as a reminder - it's time for me to leave the planet and start a new journey.
Wasn't it romantic to use one's beloved song to wind up a journey?
I first read your book when I was a kid. Since I was too young to read and know many vocabulary, I would ask my brother and it was quite troublesome for him. Every time he saw me holding your book, his face filled with pain and that was an interesting memory.
However I never gave up on the reading. To me you always are the attendant of my daydreams since I was small, though you don't know who am I.
And now I grew up and became a space traveler like you.
Starting from tomorrow, I will follow your travelogue and visit different planets. I want to experience your experiences, and write my own space travelogue.
This is the first page of my travelogue, more are coming.
